Kulanu’s Youth Honor Roll

  • Juliana Moskowitz of Richmond,Virginia, who sold coffee and raised $2,826 in donations through her Bat Mitzvah Project to benefit the Dora Bloch Memorial Fund (for Semei Kakungulu High School nutrition). See her story on this page.
  • Joshua Posner of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, whose Bar Mitzvah Project raised $2,523 for Kulanu and also raised funds for restoration of his Baton Rouge synagogue after the 2006 floods. His bar mitzvah was in November 2007.
  • Efrayim “Effie” Sztokman of Modi’in, Israel, who raised $265 for Kulanu by requesting donations in lieu of gifts for his June 2008 bar mitzvah.
  • Zak Cohen of New York City, who raised money for teachers' salaries at the Abayudaya primary school in honor of his December 2007 bar mitzvah with the Abayudaya Congregation in Uganda. The previous year, Zak's family also donated funds to build a two-classroom block at the elementary school. Zak's dvar torah, delivered in Uganda, was included in our Winter 2007-08 newsletter.
  • Isaac Kort-Meade of Santa Rosa, California, who raised $1,000 for the Abayudaya Education fund by selling Mirembe Kawomera coffee as his Mitzvah Project. His bar mitzvah was in September 2008.
  • The campers at Camp Herzl in Wisconsin, guided by counselor Neili Rosenbloom, who raised $835 for Kulanu through their Holchim L’Chaim (“We Walk For Life”) fundraising walk during summer 2008.
